Partner compensation
National Debt Registry may receive compensation from an independent provider when you request information, call a number on our site, or are connected with that provider. Compensation may affect which providers appear and where they are shown.
What "$0 upfront" means
You pay nothing to use National Debt Registry. A participating debt relief provider does not collect a debt relief fee before it has settled or otherwise changed the terms of at least one debt, you have agreed to that result, and you have made at least one payment under the agreement. The provider must explain any later fees in its written terms.
Your choice and possible results
Requesting information does not require you to enroll. Eligibility, fees, creditor participation, savings, payment amounts, timing, and credit effects vary. No outcome is guaranteed, and results vary from person to person.
Before you enroll
- Debt settlement and other debt relief programs can negatively affect your credit score and credit history, and missed payments to creditors during a program can lead to collection activity or lawsuits.
- Not every creditor participates, and a provider cannot guarantee that a creditor will settle or reduce a balance.
- Forgiven debt may be treated as taxable income; ask a tax professional.
- Providers charge fees, disclosed in their written agreement, only after a result as described above.
- Programs are not available in every state, and results vary from person to person.
- National Debt Registry is not a government agency and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any government program.
