Educational estimate only
- This calculator models only your current debt based on the inputs you provide.
- It does not estimate settlement savings, program results, eligibility, or a debt relief outcome.
- Results vary. This is not an offer or financial advice.
- Your inputs stay in your browser and are not sent to National Debt Registry.

How the estimate works
The calculator treats the balance as one combined debt with a constant annual interest rate. It divides that annual rate by 12, applies one month of interest to the remaining balance, then subtracts the monthly payment. It repeats that process until the modeled balance reaches zero.
For the last month, it counts only the amount needed to cover that month's interest and remaining principal. Total interest is the sum of the modeled monthly interest charges. The higher-payment comparison starts with the same balance and rate, then replaces only the monthly payment.
Important assumptions
- The interest rate stays constant and compounds monthly.
- The full payment is made once per month and no payment is missed.
- No new purchases, cash advances, fees, penalties, or additional debts are added.
- The average rate accurately represents the combined balances.
- Payments above the month's interest reduce principal.
- The calculator stops rather than showing a false payoff if the payment does not cover the first month's interest.
Real accounts may calculate interest daily, use variable rates, charge fees, require different minimums, or apply payments differently. This estimate is a planning aid, not a lender statement. Results vary.
